When you're thirsty... you'll drink anything.

Starting and running a small business is thirsty work. Your heart gets thirsty, your head gets thirsty. And, if the money doesn't come in, you start getting hungry as well.

Imagine- a hot day, you're sitting at your desk and you can't stop thinking about getting something to drink. A tall, cool, refreshing glass- condensation on the outside, maybe a slice of lemon, maybe some mint.

Ahhh... but when you get up to go get your drink, there's only some old, flat soda that you didn't really like in the first place (which is why it's flat.) But you're thirsty. So you drink it. And you're still thirsty.

When you're thirsty for business information, you don't want to drink just anything.

You've read the books- everyone telling you how to do this or how to do that. But it seems like you either have to be superhuman, willing to throw away your morals, or, in any case, be someone other than who you are in order to get anywhere. Ugh.

For instance, ever run into one of these roadblocks?

• You've been trying to get a clear marketing message.
You've read how to create a marketing message, but you just can't get it so it feels good, and works.

• You struggle with pricing.
You don't want to charge too little, but you don't want your customers to think you've become greedy. You just want to trust your pricing.

• You feel alone in your business.
You haven't been able to find any peers who really get what you're up to, and are willing to encourage and support you. You feel disconnected, lost, a little lonely.

• Questions come up for you that you can't answer.
As simple as 'How do you get an audience to give you their business cards?' Or more complex, 'How can I find a business strategy that doesn't feel like a straitjacket?'

• Your heart starts feeling run down by business.
You lose direction, passion, energy. Little things start to bother you. You feel burnt-out.

You know the answers are somewhere, but where? And who to trust? And how to make sure the answers actually fit you and your situation?
